In celebration of art and community, five talented local artists will be creating original works of art live at the Spring Art Brew. This artwork will be available for silent auction during the event. Be sure to head over to the live artists' area, watch them work, and bid on their one-of-a-kind creations—all to support DDES!
Shruthi Kulkarni grew up in the southern region of India and has 5 years of branding and strategy experience in advertising. This is what inspired her to pursue a degree in graphic and web design at The Art Institute of Colorado, Denver. She is an avid reader and likes to paint with pixels and brushes equally. Sometimes she also pretends to be a photographer, keeps up with friends, and laughs at funny stuff.
Her design sensibilities are heavily inspired by traditional print design and a deep love for diverse cultural history. Aside from design, Shruthi's other job is to find a personalized tourist tchotchke that has her full name, while she travels the world.
I put my whole heart and soul into every piece I make, with the intention of allowing the viewer to feel and take in the energy that went into the creation. Great art should drive and challenge the current culture, not just be a reflection of that society. It is very important to me to play a small role in that and find my own way of adding something positive to the world.
Mike Graves has been arting FOREVER. He paints because it makes him happy, hopefully it makes you happy as well! Mike has shown his collective works in Hawaii, Las Vegas, San Francisco, Brooklyn, Phoenix, Miami, Chicago, Calgary and numerous galleries in Colorado. You can see his art on skate decks, magazines, t-shirts, buildings and everything in between.
Each piece of my art is painted, drawn, sketched, glued, stitched, or created with love. Her work tends to be abstract with a somewhat magical feel. There are elements of rich texture, thick paint, vibrant colors, and playful movement in all of my pieces. Each painting contains layers upon layers of emotion and each piece gives an intricate view of her heart and soul. While some pieces might have a lighthearted and mischievous feel...others may be more dark and melancholy.
Born and raised in the beautiful state of Colorado, with a compelling need to create and express himself through a multitude of mediums, Corey Merritt performs his craft in the Denver metropolitan area. Inspired in his youth by the works of Shel Silverstein, Dr. Seuss, and Ralph Steadman, Corey feels he has an art-bligation to share his voice and perspective with the world, keeping the tradition of illustration alive through fine line and simplicity.
